Skate Video

Here is some video of today's skate park outing. Alex is working on a couple of new tricks in the 4' mini ramp. Here's the 50-50 grind:

Here's his run with a couple of different tricks in it:

It sure was cold in there today!! We didn't go until noon just because it was sooo cold. It only got up to the mid 40's today and it's probably down to the low 30's already now. Winter is here too stinkin' early for me!!

More Skate Pics

Sorry this is all crazy with the songs, but I just decided to try this cool site, so you have to deal with me being crazy! Isn't Alex getting good!!

Murder at the Juice Joint

My friends Jennifer and Jeff Ellison hosted an awesome party last night! It was for Jennifer's birthday and it was soooo fun! Their home was a 1920's speakeasy/gin joint and they hosted a murder mystery dinner. Each of us had a character to play - I was Flirty Flapper and I was having an affair with the mayor :) I didn't get a picture of us together, but now that I think about it I surely should have! Duh!! Anyway, it was quite fun!! Notorious Nick (Dave) was murdered shortly after dinner and the gumshoe - PI Pinkerton - solved the case! Here are a few pics... There I am - all set to go in my flapper dress, fishnet thigh-high hose, sequined and feathered head band and beads - Alex was flipping out because I had so much make up on! He told me that I looked weird - I told him I just didn't look like his mom, he agreed! :)

The Great Georgia Air Show

I almost forgot to tell you all about the Airshow! This was on October 12th and I got to go thanks to the dad of one of my students - Thanks Pat!! I went to the show at Falcon Field here in Peachtree City with my friend Tabatha and her two darlings - Xavier and Addison. We had a great time and it was a really great day. There were a few minutes of showers, but then it was just a bit overcast and really quite perfect - we even got a tiny bit of sunburn! LOL These are some of the pics and videos that I took. These first ones are of the Aeroshell team - they were pretty cool. I took lots of pics of them.

My favorite ones were the F-16 and F-18! I just love to hear the afterburners! I took some video of them, and some pics. Here are some of those. They did some cool heritage flights with the Airforce and Navy planes - one old and one new plane.

This is Delta's "Pink Plane" which they fly for breast cancer awareness. It's neat and based on what I have heard from my friends that work for Delta, all of the employees are very proud to have this plane as part of the Delta fleet.

This was a really neat air show! We didn't get to stay for everything since I had to get home to get Alex from his dad, but we got to see some pretty cool stuff. The day before (Saturday) I went to an air show party at my friend Jennifer's home - she lives in the flight path of lots of these planes, but I must tell you that while there was good company and good wine at Jennifer's, the view was much better at the airport :) I hope I get to take Alex to this next year!

Halloween 08

We went to Trunk or Treat at our church on the Sunday before Halloween and we went Trick or Treating on Halloween with Alex's buddies Sammy and Andrew. I just sat at Andrew's house and helped hand out candy - the boys went with Andrew's mom and Brian to trick or treat. It was a nice evening - got kind of cold as the sun went down though! Yes, that is Angel in the Princess Leia costume. She totally hates it, but we couldn't resist putting her in it, especially since Alex was Darth Vader!!
You can really tell he's my kid - taking his own pictures, what a goof!!

Alex Hits Double Digits!!

Alex had his 10th birthday this year. He wanted to have his party at the skatepark, so we had it at the Factory. They do a nice party - the best part was that I didn't have to do anything but show up and pay! They got this really cool cake at Publix. It was really neat and Alex loved it!

We also had pizza and drinks. Although no one really cared about that - they just wanted to skate!

He got tons of Tech Deck stuff - ramps, boards and what not. I have been told (by my wonderful son) that you can never have enough ramps and parts - you can build the best skateparks that way!
This is him opening the iPod shuffle that his dad and I got him. He thought that was pretty cool. He's been adding songs to it slowly. I don't think that he knows what songs he really wants to put on it. It's funny how many songs from the 80's he likes and wants to put on it! What a funny thing to have your kid start to like the songs that you liked when you were a kid!!

Fernbank Museum of Natural History

So, we decided to grow our brains one Sunday and we went to Fernbank Museum in Atlanta with Tabatha, Xavier, Addison and Lexie. It was a fun day. The kids got to act like penguins, see dinosaur bones and generally act like crazy people. Then we went to Hard Rock for dinner for my birthday....well make that we tried to go to Hard Rock for my birthday - they were having a private event that night and we couldn't get in!! We ended up going down the road to a so-so Mexican restaurant. It was still a fun night! Here are some pics from the museum. You can see the rest of the pics in the slideshow.

Well, We Went on a Vacation...

Hi All!! It's been too long and I apologize for that! We did have a great summer and it's been a nice start to the school year too. In July we went to Michigan for a two week vacation. We stayed with Jenny on the east side for a few days, then we went over to the west side and stayed with my mom and dad til we headed for home. It was quite a long drive from Peachtree City to Michigan, so we broke it up by spending the night at a Motel 6, both on the way up and on the way back down. We went to a Teddy Bear Picnic with Jenny, Jillian, Julie and Laureana - it was sooooo cold! You know Michigan - it can be really cold one day and then 90 the next - the wind was blowing pretty hard and it was a cold one too. Here are a couple of pictures -

We had a good time - Alex is such a good sport when going to all of these things that are really designed for kids that are far younger than he is.

We also got to visit with my friend Debbie and we took the boys to the waterpark in Madison Heights. That was pretty fun. It was a little cool that day too, but you have to just suck it up and deal sometimes.

When we got to the west side, which was the 3rd of July, we found that there was some damage at Mom and Dad's. There had been a big storm the night before and the big maple tree in the front yard fell - it hit the garage roof, a bit of the trailer's roof, dad's trunk (smooshed it!) and a bit of damage to Dad's mustang too. It was pretty crazy. Look -

We also went to Lake Michigan for a day before we headed home - it was really great! We spent the day with Scott, Robyn, Caleb, Paige, Kara, Megan and Amanda. It really was an awesome day.
